CASEY FROM
FINDING HIS VOICE

What attracted you to ALPROLIX?

I'm a father of two girls and at the time I was helping run the family business, so I was looking for a therapy that offered protection* I could count on.

What dose did your doctor recommend?

After starting me on a 10-day, 100 IU/kg regimen, I worked with my doctor to make the move to 14 days between infusions.

Why is it important to tell others about ALPROLIX?

I'm committed to sharing my experiences with others. I want to be part of finding options for other people living with hemophilia, too—especially my two nephews.

What's the most surprising thing you've experienced since starting on ALPROLIX?

The time between infusions, That really made a big impact on my schedule.

ALEX FROM
FINDING HIS SPIRIT

How did hemophilia affect your childhood?

I treated my moderate hemophilia B on-demand when I was a kid. I spent so much time in the hospital watching the world go past my window.

When did your outlook change about your hemophilia treatment?

I had been treating my hemophilia on demand and then my wife gave birth to our second child. That's when I decided I had to stop gambling with my health and start taking my treatment seriously.

So you looked into treating with ALPROLIX?

I heard about ALPROLIX at a hemophilia symposium and immediately got in touch with my doctor about trying it. We worked together and now I infuse prophylactically every 11 days.

What is your outlook for the future?

Coaching youth soccer and sharing the passion of the game with these kids, and watching my family grow, makes me happy. My spirit will always be bigger than hemophilia. I'm being proactive with treatment, and so, in turn, my happiness.

JEN FROM
GOING ALL IN

How did you end up in charge of an effort to rebuild a hemophilia chapter in your home state of Hawaii?

I like to try new things. I had no idea how to run a non-profit, but with the help of the community, we made it happen!

Your 2 boys were part of ALPROLIX clinical trials?

When the boys were little, infusions were always a struggle, to say the least. When my doctor told me about ALPROLIX and its extended dosing schedule, I immediately said, "Sign us up!"

How does it feel to be a pioneer?

I worked closely with my kids' doctor to enroll them into the study. I'm proud to be one of the earliest ALPROLIX moms. I'm encouraged to know that more and more families have also made the switch.

How have your sons responded to their ALPROLIX treatment?

My boys responded well to their prophy regimen. They've been taking ALPROLIX on an every-7-day dosing schedule at 100 IU/kg ever since

ANTONIO FROM
CHANGING COURSES

You were going one way in college, then changed direction?

I majored in social work in college but I couldn't ignore my creative side, so I shifted my professional focus to television broadcasting.

That wasn't the first time you made a big change. You changed your hemophilia treatment, didn't you?

When I was 10, I had such a bad bleed, the doctors thought they'd have to amputate my leg. That's when I learned about treating prophylactically and I've been good at sticking with my prophy regimen ever since. I didn't want to put myself at risk like that again. Now, as an adult, when I found out about ALPROLIX and its extended half-life, I was ready to sign up, right then and there.

What did you and your doctor work out?

He started me on an every 10-day prophy schedule at 100 IU/kg. Depending on my activity levels, I can extend to every 14 days.

And what course are you on now?

I started my own videography business where I am able to be creative for others. I am able to bring this skill with me to hemophilia summer camp where I'm a counselor, so it's the best of bold worlds. I recommend stepping out of your comfort zone because you never know what's on the other side.

BRIAN FROM
AIMING FOR THE TOP

You're an avid hiker. What do you like about hiking?

There's something about setting a goal for yourself and then meeting that goal, accomplishing something not a lot of people do.

Have you always been proactive about your hemophilia?

When I was a teenager I thought that skipping infusions gave me more control over my hemophilia. Of course, I was wrong. That went on for several years, until I met my wife.

And that changed your outlook?

Totally. She cared about me, so I really started taking control of my hemophilia. At an annual exam, my hematologist told me about ALPROLIX and a starting dosage of once a week or every ten days. I was really excited about that.

Where to next?

I'm excited to see where hiking takes me and how far I can push myself. I feel good about the protection* I get from ALPROLIX. With the help of family and friends, I feel like there's no stopping me.
