What attracted you to ALPROLIX?

I'm a father of 2 girls, and at the time I was helping run the family business, so I was looking for a hemophilia B treatment that offered bleed and joint bleed protection* I could rely on.

What dose did your doctor recommend?

After starting me on a 10-day, 100 IU/kg regimen, I worked with my doctor to make the move to 14 days between infusions.

Why is it important to tell others about ALPROLIX?

I'm committed to sharing my experiences with others. I want to be part of helping others learn about a potential treatment option for hemophilia B —especially my 2 nephews.

What's the most surprising thing you've experienced since starting on ALPROLIX?

The ability to extend between infusions. That really made a big impact on my schedule.

FINDING HIS SPIRIT

How did hemophilia affect your childhood?

I treated my moderate hemophilia B On Demand when I was a kid. I spent so much time in the hospital watching the world go past my window.

When did your outlook change about your hemophilia treatment options?

I had been treating my hemophilia On Demand and then my wife gave birth to our second child. That's when I decided I had to stop gambling with my health and start taking my treatment seriously.

So you looked into treating with ALPROLIX?

I heard about ALPROLIX as a Factor IX replacement treatment option at a hemophilia symposium and immediately got in touch with my doctor about trying it. After working with my doctor and starting on an every-10-day dosing regimen, I was able to extend my dose and infuse beyond every 14 days.

What is your outlook for the future?

Coaching youth soccer, sharing the passion of the game with these kids, and watching my family grow makes me happy. My doctors and I are optimistic about ALPROLIX and the bleed and joint bleed protection* it offers. My spirit will always be bigger than hemophilia B. I'm being proactive with treatment and that makes me happy.

You're an avid hiker. What do you like about hiking?

There's something about setting a goal for yourself and then meeting that goal, accomplishing something not a lot of people do.

Have you always been proactive about your hemophilia?

When I was a teenager I thought that skipping infusions gave me more control over my hemophilia. Of course, I was wrong. That went on for several years, until I met my wife.

And that changed your outlook?

Totally. She cared about me, so I really started taking control of my hemophilia. At an annual exam, my hematologist told me about ALPROLIX as a Factor IX replacement treatment option and its starting dosing regimen of once a week or every 10 days. I was really excited about that.

Where to next?

I'm excited to see where hiking takes me and how far I can push myself. I feel good about the protection* I get from ALPROLIX. With the help of family and friends, I feel like there's no stopping me.
